Leafgro is a trade marked product made here in Montgomery County Maryland. It is a compost produced by Maryland Environmental Service, an independent state agency that is involved in most of the counties recycle efforts.  Leafgro is a great green product because it is made from the leaves that are collected in the fall and the grass clippings that are collected in the spring. Because it is a manufactured product, you can be assured of the consistent high quality of Leafgro. Leafgro as a soil enhancer for planting

When planting shrubs and trees, dig a whole that is at least twice as wide as the root ball but only as deep as the root ball itself. Mix equal parts of Leafgro and soil and place a few inches on the bottom of the hole. Place the tree in the center of the hole so that the flare of the tree trunk is at or a little above the top of the hole. Planting to deep will smother the plant! For shrubs, the top of the root ball should be at the top of the hole.  Fill in the hole with the soil mixture a few inches a time, gently tapping and watering between layers to eliminate air pockets that can dry out the roots. From there - mulch and water. These are general guildlines and you should consult and follow directions that came with your plant!
